Just making a quick post on the importance of Actual Wattage vs Advertised Wattage. When shopping for you LED grow lights, companies love to advertise the maximum output wattage which is truly a marketing scheme to sell the product.ย
Advertised Wattage :ย
This is a fancy way to advertise an LED light by multiplying the number of LED diodes by there maximum wattage (Theoretical wattage). An example of this is take a cheap Amazon LED grow light.ย They advertise it as 1000 Watts because they have a Theoretical Wattage ofย 100x5 watts dual chips.ย
Actual Wattage :ย
The actual wattage or true watts is almost always shown in the lights specifications, this is how much watts the light is consuming. Lets take that same light from above and look for the Actual Wattage, It states that it only consumes 120-130 wattage which isn't nearly as good as the 1000W they advertised. We as growers use Actual wattage along with other light specs (PAR) to determine the right size for our grow space.ย
ย
Don't be fooled by the Budget high advertised wattage lights!ย
