Yoyo, dR here with another simple at home test you can do in your own Garden. Today I am going to teach you how to perform a slurry test on your growing medium. This is most accurate in Soils but works in other mediums such as promix. What the objective of a Slurry test is to find out your mediums PH and PPM.
Step 1 :
PH 100ml of water to neutral 7.0
Step 2 :
Gather about a half hand full of growing medium (Make sure you dig down a bit to keep the final measurements as accurate as possible)
Step 3 :
Combine the 100ml of Water with the Soil in a single container. (Stir and let it sit for 5 minutes)
Step 4 :
Grab any fine filter you have; Coffee filters, Tea filters, Paper towel they all work good. After letting the combined mixture to sit, strain out the water using one of the filters listed above.
Step 5 :
Test the final water mixture with a PH probe and a TDS meter. Don't forget to record your findings!
During my Testing on one of my Auto Ultimate's I recorded 1150 PPM / 6.8 PH which is perfect for a Soil based grow in late flowering stage.
Check out my "What is Parts per Million? (PPM)" Post to learn more about this topic.
