Just a very quick c02 Generator I built for the home Garden.
In my "Par of Lumens? Which one is more important" post we learned that you can have to much light, what the light saturation point, and if we were to add co2 to the environment we can increase that point from 1100 to 1500 PPFD. Here is a quick DIY for a Co2 Generator built with household items.
Materials :
- 1/4 Tubing
- 2 Bottles (2L Bottle / Water Bottle works perfect)
- Silicone (Making sure everything is air tight)
- Air Stone (Installed a the end of the Red Tube, makes it easier for the plants to uptake the c02)
Ingredients :
- 2 Cups of Sugar
- 1 tbsp of bakers yeast
- 1 tbsp of baking soda
1) Pour 2 Cups of Sugar into your 2 L Bottle, add warm water (Half way) to dilute the sugar.
2) Mix in your Yeast / Baking Soda into the 2 L Bottle, and continue to add Cool water till almost full. (Check out the picture below)
3) Shake her up good! Will take around an hour to produce c02
This DIY mention will last around 2 weeks, Shake the mixture every 1 - 2 days
Hook your c02 outlet tube to a small Fan to help circulate it around to all the plants.
Finished, the mixture will take around an hour to start producing usable co2, You will know it is working if your secondary bottle (Water bottle in my case) is bubbling!

Add an Air pump with air stone into the "Live" Bottle, plug the pump into a Timer set to turn on 1 hour after lights come on and then off 1 hour before lights go out. You will get higher co2 output this way but the bottle wont last as long.
